BIAS COGNITIVI, PERSUASIONE E DARK PATTERN: ETICA E PROGETTAZIONE DELLA USER EXPERIENCE

Abstract (Italiano)

Abstract (English)

Digital interface design does more than organize information or facilitate interaction between users and technological systems: it actively shapes decisions, behaviours, and cognitive processes. Consequently, User Experience extends beyond technical design and becomes central to contemporary debates on digital ethics. This paper critically examines the relationship between cognitive biases, persuasive technologies, and dark patterns by reconstructing their theoretical foundations within cognitive psychology, Human–Computer Interaction, and behavioural sciences. Through the analysis of cognitive heuristics, persuasive design, and manipulative practices in digital platforms, the article argues that every interface constitutes a form of choice architecture. As its original contribution, the paper proposes an interpretative framework distinguishing between design that supports user autonomy and design that promotes manipulation, highlighting how User Experience should increasingly be evaluated in terms of ethical responsibility and decision transparency.
